The ceremonial proceedings yesterday began at 11am with a special States Meeting held at the court house, where the president read the proclamation of accession.

This was followed by a procession to the Island Hall, where the public gathered to hear the president read the proclamation.

The ceremony ended with the National Anthem performed by the island band.

At the end of the proclamation ceremony at the Island Hall, the officials returned to the court house to take part in a special sitting of the court.
