Bumblebee Marine’s yellow boat will no longer be seen in Alderney waters after the company ended the link.

The local operator ran its Alderney route for six seasons but said it had to end it because there was no future for the company in Alderney.

The route has been used as one of a number of dwindling travel routes between the northern isle and Guernsey and was popular during events such as Alderney Week.

‘We had been trying to work with the States [of Alderney] after they put out an expression of interest for a large ferry to Alderney,’ said skipper Dan Meinke.

‘Thousands of pounds of research and thousands of hours later, we had got nowhere – they just weren’t communicating with us – and it got pretty frustrating, to be honest.

‘We couldn’t see any way ahead for us and the States of Alderney, and while it was lovely to be doing the service, we just didn’t see a very bright future for us in it.’
