Post distances itself from Fab Link leaflet
GUERNSEY POST took the unusual step of distancing itself from a leaflet on the proposed electricity converter an unknown person paid to have sent around Alderney in a mail drop.
The four-page A4 leaflet was based on the work of home owner Tom Bliss as his response to Alderney Renewable Energy’s submission to the Land Use Plan inquiry.
Mr Bliss, who teaches Landscape Architecture and Urban Design at Leeds Becket University, argued the case against any changes to a section of the Building Law that prohibits nearly all building in the Designated Area ‘until all issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the island – and this should include any further permission for, or facilitation of, Fab.’
Guernsey Post produced an A5-sized card and sent it to every household saying certain statements quoted in the leaflet ‘may, in the absence of the broader context, be misleading or cause confusion’.
The company also pointed out that it did not verify or endorse the leaflet’s contents before its publication.
