Sue Daly, who wrote and directed the Sark Theatre Group’s panto, Greybeard’s Christmas, also took the picture of the cast at a dress rehearsal.

The story begins in the island on Christmas Eve when Greybeard the pirate, played by Gavin Nicolle, announces to his crew that what he really wants for Christmas is to give up his life on the ocean wave and settle down with a wife.

What follows is a magical adventure around the Channel Islands, above and beneath the waves.

The story was written and directed by the group’s Sue Daly.

‘We feel incredibly lucky to be able to put on a show this year when so many theatres are closed and professional companies are unable to work,’ she said.

‘We’ve been lucky to be virus-free so far, but travel restrictions mean that many of us aren’t able to be with the family and friends we would like to be with this Christmas so I felt it was important to put on a really fun, family show.

‘The nautical theme suits the island and who doesn’t enjoy dressing up as a pirate and having a sword fight?’

Greybeard’s adventures are at the Island Hall this weekend, with shows yesterday and today at 7.30pm and a matinee today at 1.

Tickets are on sale at the island’s Gallery Stores.
