The rules will apply to all the islands and mean small planes wishing to land will need to get a slot number, either over the telephone or from a website, when filing a flight plan.
Local pilots have criticised the move and visiting pilots have said it was likely put them off coming to the island.
These restrictions will be relaxed within three months, airport director Colin Le Ray said. Guernsey Airport understands that PPR [prior permission required] will be a temporary arrangement introduced in the interests of flight safety, and fully endorses the requirement to assess the peak traffic handling for the zone.
