Footage of the moment thieves rammed a stolen Land Rover into an Aldi store before taking a cash machine has been released by police.

The vehicle is twice backed into the Cambridgeshire supermarket, causing debris to fall, before a group of men are seen apparently loading the ATM into a dark Volkswagen Golf and then fleeing the scene.

Police, who released CCTV footage, have stepped up patrols in the area and “at other vulnerable locations”, Detective Sergeant Mark Plitsch said, as he urged people to report any suspicious activity around cash machines.

He added: “I’d appeal to anyone who has information about this incident to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“In addition to tracing the Volkswagen Golf, we would like to speak to the driver of a light-coloured hatchback seen to be circling the A141 Slade End roundabout at the time of the offence to eliminate them from our inquiries. We have a partial registration plate of SR16.”
