The Met Office said by the end of Wednesday, more than 20cm of snow may have accumulated in parts of eastern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The “Beast from the East” has swept into the UK, causing heavy snow in some areas and leading to warnings of disruption to roads and public transport.
