Peter Robinson appointed honorary peace professor
The ex-DUP leader served at the head of the powersharing administration at Stormont from 2008 until his 2016 retirement.
Former first minister of Northern Ireland Peter Robinson has been appointed honorary Professor in Peace Studies at Queen’s University.
Involved in politics for over 40 years, the ex-DUP leader served at the head of the powersharing administration at Stormont from 2008 until his retirement in 2016.
Professor Richard English, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation and Engagement, said: “Queen’s is pleased to welcome Peter Robinson as an honorary Professor at the university.
“As a former first minister Mr Robinson has considerable political and governmental experience which will enhance both teaching and research at the university.
“We look forward to his contribution over the next three years.”
Mr Robinson will take part in workshops and masterclasses with students and will participate in events at the university.
He will give his public first lecture on June 7 entitled Negotiating The Way Forward: Restoring Government In Northern Ireland”.
