Diners have been able to visit the Salisbury branch of restaurant chain Zizzi for the first time since the day Sergei and Yulia Skripal dined there after being poisoned with Novichok.

The building has been refurbished with nods to the local Salisbury community, and local charities were supported with the proceeds of a special event at which diners could pay as much as they liked for a meal from the new menu.

“After the incident we were concerned about the welfare of our staff and to our relief everyone was well.”

All staff were kept on full pay during the closure period, with those who were able to work further afield transferring to nearby branches.
