An Irish store owner is celebrating selling his second Lotto jackpot ticket in a year.

The winning ticket of the 11.2 million euro (£10.1 million) jackpot was sold at a shop in Co Wicklow.

It was confirmed on Friday that the winning Quick Pick ticket was sold on Wednesday, the day of the draw, at the Spar service station on Monastery Road in Enniskerry.

The lucky store’s owner, Ken O’Connor, is no stranger to Lotto jackpot joy, having previously sold a jackpot ticket worth 5.7 million euro (£5.1 million) at another of his Spar stores in Rathfarnham in Dublin last October.

Staff celebrated the huge 11,255,280 euro jackpot prize as they appealed for people to check their tickets.

Mr O’Connor said: “We just can’t believe it.

“We heard the news yesterday that the winning ticket was sold in Wicklow but we had no idea it was us until last night, it’s just fantastic.

“The shop is absolutely buzzing this morning and I am just thrilled for our customers and of course our staff.

“Just last year we sold another winning Lotto ticket worth 5.7 million euro at another one of our stores in Rathfarnham in Dublin, so we’re definitely a lucky retailer for our customers.

“Whoever the winner is, we wish them every bit of luck enjoying this life-changing win.”

Since the inception of the Lotto game in 1988, there have been 55 Lotto jackpot winners in Co Wicklow, amounting to 87.2 million euro (£78.9 million) in jackpot prizes alone.

A National Lottery spokesman also appealed to the lucky winner, or winners, of the 11.2 million euro prize.

The spokesman said: “The National Lottery are still waiting to hear from the lucky ticketholder of this truly incredible prize.

“It is possible that the winner is still unaware that they may be in possession of the winning ticket, so we are encouraging anybody who has a ticket to check it carefully and to contact our prize claims team on 01 836 4444, and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize.”

The jackpot win is the 15th highest jackpot, while Wednesday’s winner becomes the sixth Lotto jackpot winner of 2019.

This year has seen 14 new millionaires, who won massive cash windfalls through the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.
