Latest weekly Covid-19 rates for local authority areas in England
Just six out of 315 local areas recorded a week-on-week increase.
Here is Monday’s update of Covid-19 case rates for every local authority area in England.
The figures, for the seven days to March 4, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).
The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
Data for the most recent four days (March 5-8) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
South Derbyshire has the highest rate in England, with 161 new cases recorded in the seven days to March 4 – the equivalent of 150.1 cases per 100,000 people.
This is down 153.8 in the seven days to February 25.
Barnsley has the second highest rate, down from 166.9 to 148.7, with 367 new cases.
Hull is in third place, down from 158.2 to 148.2, with 385 new cases.
The six areas to record a week-on-week rise are:
Staffordshire Moorlands (up from 69.1 to 76.2)
Welwyn Hatfield (64.2 to 69.9)
East Devon (43.8 to 47.2)
Canterbury (29.6 to 31.4)
West Oxfordshire (26.2 to 27.1)
Gloucester (31.8 to 32.5)
Here is the list in full. From left to right, it reads: name of local authority; rate of new cases in the seven days to March 4; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to March 4; rate of new cases in the seven days to February 25; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to February 25.
