Hamleys reveals predicted Christmas toy best-sellers
A toy baby with a lifelike weight costing £120 is the priciest toy on Hamleys list this year.
Toys from the latest Moana and Transformers films are set to feature alongside classics such as Play-Doh and cars this Christmas, according to retailer Hamleys.
A £120 toy baby with a lifelike weight and the £79.99 Lego Transformer Bumblebee make up the priciest end of the list, but perennial favourites LOL Surprise collectibles are back for £9.99 for the latest Mermaid Tots.
Paw Patrol also makes a return with the Rescue Wheels Deluxe Vehicle featuring outsized tyres, motorised winch, grappling hook, projectile launcher, flashing lights and sounds, for £44.99.
Play-Doh is back with its Marvel Hulk Smash and Squish, which comes with the heroic green action figure, 360-degree pressing tool and three moulds to create tanks, trucks and a variety of shapes to allow children to create their own film scenes.
The remote-control Bulldozer Stunt Bounce Car has dynamic suspension, lights, three-gear acceleration and 360-degree rotation and 180-degree flip modes for £45, and the Monster Rotary Excel Electric Blaster with 32-dart cartridge costs £40.
Pre-schoolers are expected to request the £49.95 Numberblocks Five Musical Superstar Stage, an interactive playset allowing children to join in with a singalong and sound effects with some maths skills thrown in.
Victoria Kay, head buyer at Hamleys, said: “Some of the toys on this year’s list foster a sense of connection, comfort and familiarity, whether they are transforming Bumblebee, sending Chase on an epic Paw Patrol rescue mission or enjoying Stitch giggle his way around the home.
“There’s also toys that simply endure year-on-year like Play-Doh, fun cars and the latest dart blaster.”
