Kyle Clifford’s life as a failed soldier transcended into one of a “psychopath” triple killer fuelled by misogyny and jealousy.

His military career spanned three years, but Cambridge Crown Court heard he spent around a third of that time “at home claiming to be ill”.

Clifford never saw active service and his commander said of his time as a soldier: “His character is wholly unsuited to military employment and he has no care nor concern beyond himself.”

Prosecutors said Clifford was also involved in a further altercation with civilians and had to be “forcibly ejected from a pub”.

The killer’s character was also highlighted as a concern by friends and family of his ex-partner Louise Hunt, who he later went on to murder with a crossbow, rape and falsely imprison on July 9.

Clifford’s family is no stranger to violence, with his brother Bradley Clifford jailed for life for murdering a teenage moped rider he had ploughed into in 2017.

He is currently serving a minimum term of 23 years for the fatal attack on Soban Khan.

Following his stint in the military, Clifford’s immaturity was noted by supervisors in other jobs, with one saying he referred to his killer brother as a “geezer”.

Another said they were “unhappy with the way that the defendant spoke about women”, with Clifford overheard saying “I could ride on that” when speaking about another woman while in his 18-month relationship with Louise.

A friend of Louise had witnessed Clifford viewing an Andrew Tate video “which showed animals who had been drugged”, which the defendant found “funny”.

Prosecutors said his decision to “turn to” one of the controversial social media influencer’s podcasts the night before the murders showed he was fuelled by Tate’s “violent misogyny”.

After Louise ended their relationship, Clifford “carefully planned and executed” her murder and that of her sister Hannah and her mother Carol.

Sentencing judge Mr Justice Bennathan told the court Clifford is a “jealous man soaked in self pity, who holds women in utter contempt”.

Louise and Hannah’s father, John Hunt, said Clifford was “callous, cowardly and vindictive” and a “psychopath”, while his surviving daughter Amy Hunt called him a “monster” and said what he did “to my baby sister is nothing short of demonic”.
