A cat weighing a whopping 24lbs (10.9kg) has been fostered in the US after being taken in by an animal shelter in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

Faye was taken in by the Jacksonville Humane Society in Florida after being dropped off at the centre.

After being shared widely, it took just one night for Faye to be adopted, being taken in by a mother and daughter who apparently drove two hours to collect her.

It looks like she’s doing well, too – becoming close friends with the youngest in the new home.
