Everyone has ideas about who should be on the Bank Of England’s new £50 note

Sadly for Harry Maguire, he doesn’t meet the criteria.

Who do you think should be on the new £50 note?

After the Bank Of England announced there would be a public consultation into who should appear on the new, more secure version of the bank’s highest-value note, people are making their own suggestions.

Some were sensible and serious.

Some were perhaps a little more on the lighthearted side.

Many were football related.

Sadly the crushing and somewhat boring truth is that the reigning monarch is the only living person who appears on banknotes.

But that didn’t stop a full scale campaign to get England defender Harry Maguire onto the note from getting under way.
