The idea soon began trending as #FloridaManChallege, with a strange news story about a Florida man seemingly published on every day of the year.

American sports journalist Rich Eisen took a screen grab of his results, which included the headlines “Florida man uses his sign on his car to find love” and “South Florida man gives condoms love handles”, adding he was unable to choose between them.
Users pointed out the challenge had changed their opinion of the Florida population, with @shablonde writing: “If the #FloridaManChallege taught me anything today it’s that I’m never dating a man from Florida as long as I live on this earth.”
Another user, @itsnotriss, put: “idk who “florida man” is but sounds like he’s had a rough year.”
