A great opportunity to Grow
FORTIETH anniversary celebrations coming up for Grow Ltd will have an extra boost after it announced that it had achieved its £3m. fundraising project on schedule and should be able to move in by Easter.
The campaign was ambitious but necessary. Grow had been building on its offering for 40 years, but able to do limited ‘building’ on the premises – and it showed. The facilities were out of date, particularly for a charity providing such a unique community service.
Grow has spent 40 years supporting adults with learning disabilities and difficulties to develop self-confidence and life skills, enabling them to be included and valued within a workplace and the community, offering employment, training and mentoring.
It’s a job that has been done spectacularly well. And now its facilities will have caught up and everyone can be rightly proud of all parts of the operation.
It’s also fitting to give a pat on the back for all who have supported Grow’s fundraising, and not least the couple who have taken on the role of patrons of the charity so supportively – Guy and Julia Hands.
Their offer of a conditional donation to take the fundraising over the finishing line was a canny but crucial move, and their continued and obvious commitment to Grow does them much credit.
