Making Guernsey proud
THERE were tears, laughter, heart-warming moments and inspiring stories.
Once again, the Guernsey Press’s Pride of Guernsey Awards on Saturday showcased our community at its very best.
It is always humbling to hear about the amazing achievements, selfless actions, kindness, bravery and hard work of our fellow islanders.
In particular, the recording of five-year-old Colby Bridgman’s call to the Emergency Services after his mum collapsed is unlikely to be forgotten in a hurry by any of those in attendance.
These awards were first created back in 2016 so that the Guernsey Press, with the help of our generous sponsors, could celebrate, recognise and reward the Bailiwick’s many unsung heroes. Since then it has gone from strength to strength.
This year was a record-breaking one, with more categories, nominations and votes cast than ever before.
More than 250 people were nominated for this year’s awards, across 15 categories. More than 40 nominations were received for the Teacher of the Year Award alone.
We are extremely grateful to everyone involved, from our readers who nominate and vote for these champions of our community to the sponsors, judges and presenters, all of whom play an important part in helping to make the awards such a success.
