Our hospital care has been exemplary

I HAVE never written to any paper before but feel I must put pen to paper in defence of our PEH.

Published

My husband recently passed away after two-and-a-half months on Le Marchant ward, where he received the most wonderful care (as did I). I am a retired nurse and can criticise, when required, when nursing standards aren't reached but they were, 100%, and given with great sensitivity and thoughtfulness and his dignity was maintained at all times.

I too have had many stays in hospital and have always had excellent treatment.

My son, too, is a frequent patient and cannot speak highly enough of the care and treatment received.

My daughter was very ill in the late stages of pregnancy and the staff on Loveridge and later on Frossard did everything possible for her and the baby. When he was a toddler, he developed a life-threatening condition and they moved Heaven and Earth to get him to Southampton (in fog) for neuro surgery and his ongoing care six years on is exemplary.

So you can understand how sad I feel when the hospital and staff are criticised. No one can feel the grief of the poor family who lost their beloved baby but we can sympathise. However, please let us celebrate all the good things our little hospital achieves rather than on a tragedy that doesn't help the bereaved family or anyone else.
