Liberation Day given second place behind cruise passengers

I'VE JUST got home after going into town with the grandchildren for Liberation Day. Although the weather wasn't in our favour, it was nowhere near as bad as the terrible layout for this year's celebrations. It's nice to know who the States think the most of, 'why, the cruise liners, of course'. Why else was there nothing at all set up on the Albert Pier? It had to be free for the coaches and passengers, never mind us locals.

This day, 9 May, is for us, but you wouldn't have thought so. Last year, French market and loads of stalls etc, were on both piers. This year, French market on North Beach, nothing by Tourist Information, Crown Pier loads of things, few stalls on seafront, Albert Pier as I said 'nothing' – all visitors getting back on the liner. Bus station a couple of stalls, food outlet and Lions Club trying to raise money. Just stuck out there, but not many people. Why would they wander along there? They could see nothing was on the Albert so they didn't bother to go that end of town.

Nice to know in what order you put 9 May and the local people. Anything to keep the cruise liners happy.

Well done, you've excelled yourselves once again.

This is perhaps another reason why they should put their landing back down the harbour.
