Why are we destroying all of St Peter Port's green spaces?
WHAT have they done, and what are they doing to my Guernsey? Why are we concreting, tarmacing, destroying the very few green spaces of St Peter Port? The Town Centre Partnership tried to concrete over the North Plantation. The Harbour Authority have tarmaced over the eastern green 'plantation' at the southern route to the castle and now the western side is now a boat park... watch this space.
There has not been one tree or shrub permanently planted on or around our harbours.
A concrete jungle is what all our liner visitors see when they land on our beautiful island.
Candie Cemetery has been destroyed by St Peter Port constables by removing all the trees, and flowers, that were such a beautiful feature of St Peter Port.
Cambridge Park and Beau Sejour are still in the same sorry state they have been for 20-plus years – no investment of any credence, then they will use the excuse nobody uses these places, so we might as well build on them.
Now the latest. St Paul's sunken gardens are on the danger list to be obliterated.
What investment has ever been put into this area to enhance it?
There should be steps from the western ends for access in and out of this beautiful place and much more.
'People love these places of peace.'
The States of Deliberation have now voted to look after Guernsey's bio-diversity. It is incumbent on all to not only look after, but recoup our lost, destroyed, 'green' parts of Guernsey and improve what other areas we have.
We all have a part to play here, it is not just 'my' Guernsey, but all of 'ours'. Please help us to bring Guernsey's wonderful places back with pride.
Please don't let these places silently drift away.
