IN YESTERDAY'S Press (Monday 18 July 2016) I noticed yet another letter from that mysterious individual 'name and address supplied'. The subject was the teachers' survey, which demonstrated clearly that the majority of educational professionals are against the 11-plus.
This person was quite happy to mention Peter Sherbourne by name, proceed to misquote him and then was too spineless to put his/her own name to the letter. For goodness sake, we are not living in Russia or Turkey. In this safe and democratic island if you can't be up front and stand by what you say you're hardly worth listening to. On the other hand, if you've signed a contract that says you should not write to the media, then have the integrity to abide by your contract.
