Funds not forthcoming from Church
I READ with interest Nick Mann's article on the Ecclesiastical Court and its alleged £600,000 in funds. As readers may know Torteval Church is going to need a very expensive refurbishment, very soon, to prevent the tower collapsing. The church is iconic to the parish and the island. However, the cost of the repairs will fall solely upon the parishioners.

There is likely to be some funding for the repairs from both the Torteval congregation and from funds raised during the Scarecrow weekend. However, nothing appears to be forthcoming from the Church of England, via the Ecclesiastic Court.
Perhaps less secrecy from the court and more generosity to the island's smallest parish is in order.
