Disappointed to see sculptures were removed

WE WERE driving around the coast road on 31 October and were disappointed to see that the elephant sculpture was not in place at Albecq. We were curious to know why it had been removed as we had admired it, and felt that, together with the one on the Bridge, this sculpture carried a very worthwhile message. Later we were horrified to read in the Guernsey Press of 31 October that they had been removed for safety reasons. What a joke.

It is hard to believe that these sculptures could in any way be considered dangerous.

Haven't our wonderful civil servants got anything better to do?

This artist, Dominic Snow, is putting himself to huge trouble and probably expense for the sake of a magnificent wild animal and some petty official has decided that his sculptures are dangerous.

I would hope that the people of Guernsey would see sense, understand the message, respect the sculpture and stay away so it doesn't fall on them.

In a few weeks' time a Christmas tree will be put up in Market Square. A notice should be sufficient to warn people not to climb on it. Should we ban those too?

We're sure we are not alone in requesting the powers that be to reinstate these unique and, I believe, soon to be worldwide, sculptures.
