Same-sex marriage is not hurting anyone
A REPLY to the letter on 6 March 2017: 'Most islanders have not accepted same-sex marriage.' In my view, each to their own, and whatever makes you happy. The person who is name and address withheld thinks, in their opinion, most islanders have not accepted same-sex marriage. I tell you to get with the 21st century and don't act or speak disgracefully about two people sharing happiness and being in love. Two men or two women being in a relationship is the same as a woman and a man being together. They are allowed and are not hurting anybody.
In life you can't choose your sexuality or who you are attracted to. So I tell you to stop being so judgemental and homophobic towards people who are with the same sex.
Also, same-sex marriage should be allowed and also supported in church because we are all God's children and are all equal and made special in our different ways. It will encourage partners to be open and to express their feelings, to open up the rights of Gay Pride.
To the name and address withheld person, there is no need for personal attacking and disrespecting other people's beliefs of Gay Pride.
At the end of the day it's their choice of who they want to date and be with, and all that counts is that they are happy and that they are supported with their own life decisions and how they want to live their lives.
Supporters of gay rights should be encouraging people to have confidence and independence to come out and to be open about their feelings because this is why we have Gay Pride.
And people who are living in this community with a same-sex partner find it hard enough, without idiots like yourself who have been writing your negative thoughts on how they should live their lives, without your disgusting opinions.
I'm proud to support same-sex marriage.
