Thank you to all GFC players and coaches

AS A supporter of Guernsey FC, and I have been since it started, I have to agree with Alex Murphy's midweek story on the struggle of GFC this season. Like all new football clubs they had to start at a lower level and our talented GFC were hammering many UK teams as they climbed the leagues to where they are now. At this level they are now facing, as Alex described, UK teams much stronger and of course most of them in this league have an open cheque book to sign on various players whenever they like and quite often it's ex-pros. We have to admire our local talented players for all the travelling they have to do, leaving their families etc, bad weather, good weather, whatever.

In the early days we saw very large crowds. Now they have diminished a little. Does that say a lot for those who turned up to see GFC thrash other teams and now can't be bothered when it gets tougher? Do we call these genuine fans? Every GFC game is always different, win or lose, no different to what is happening in the UK professional leagues. It's great to see the different UK teams coming over again, win or lose against them, and the genuine Guernsey fans who still turn up in their hundreds still enjoy the game.

Many supporters agree that the best officials we ever saw were three women, very professional.

Back to our GFC, we have some great youngsters coming on, many only 17 years of age, and at present we have so many experienced ones injured and out of action for a long time.

On behalf of all GFC fans, thank you to all the players for again a great season, although nail-biting at times.

Not to forget, Tony Vance, Colin Fallaize and all the staff for your confidence in the team and frustration you suffer.

We do also, as fans, but will as 'genuine' fans still keep coming to the lane to support GFC.
