If every person did not vote we might be heard

GUERNSEY is not run by the deputies we elect – they promise us this and that, and then when they get into office and join the system, nothing changes for the better, things generally get worse, and the people and businesses of the island carry on suffering the consequences.

Every four years, we vote in a new group of promises and things go on the same.

This system has been going on for decades, and it clearly doesn’t work, in effect our votes don’t count.

In my opinion, it is no good looking at the elected deputies to change the island for the better, because in my opinion that is never going to happen.

I call the deputies of this island the ‘here today gone tomorrow’ politicians, because that’s what they are.

If you want to have some idea of who or what really runs this island, then you need to look at what is always there, who is always there, and then you will have some understanding of what is actually going on.

I have not voted for a number of years and will not be voting at the next election as, in my opinion, it quite obviously makes no difference whatsoever.

The only way, I think, for the people of this island to be heard is if everybody did not vote, and I mean everybody, and then I think there would be wobbly legs within the chambers of power, and then maybe, just maybe, they would then have no choice but to listen to us.
