Parsnips not buttered by politicians’ fine words

AM I the only one getting totally confused by the profusion of political parties (sorry, groupings) now springing up? I don’t really like party politics but I could sort of understand it if all of these groups were made up of different deputies, offering differing political visions, for us to choose from. Instead it seems that they all have common membership and are offering pretty much the same policies.

First we had the ‘Charter’ with deputies like Carl Meerveld, Peter Ferbrache, Jan Kuttelwascher and Joe Mooney to the fore – together with Neil Inder and Mary Lowe.

I am not sure if this quasi-party still exists or not. They’ve gone very quiet. Then we had a splinter group called the Islanders Association which features deputies Meerveld, Ferbrache and Mooney.

Now we have a splinter from the splinter called the 20-20 Association with deputies Ferbrache, Kuttelwascher and Mooney providing the political leadership and Deputy Meerveld as one of their first recruits.

All of these parties (sorry groupings) claim to be pro-business, but what have their political members done to deliver on that agenda in their 2.5 years in the States since the last election? Fine words butter no parsnips. I await with interest the day when deputies Ferbrache, Mooney and Kuttelwascher decide they can’t work together and as a result, we get a fourth non-party with the same sort of policies as the other lot. Now where is my DVD of Monty Python’s Life of Brian?
