Will politicians abide by result of second vote?

I FIND it extremely difficult to take MPs like Jeremy Corbyn and Anna Soubry seriously when they claim that the Supreme Court ruling against Boris Johnson is great news for democracy because it means that Parliament can carry out the will of the people and ensure there is a second referendum on Brexit.

It sounds more like a great day for hypocrisy to me. At the risk of stating the obvious, if Parliament was so keen to carry out the will of the people why did they not take the country out of the EU after the first referendum? Also if the remainers are so keen on having the will of the people upheld, why do they advocate being a member of the obviously federal European Union, where the MEPs elected by the people have no power and all of the Parliament’s decisions are made by the European Commission who the people do not vote for?

But what I’d most like to hear from politicians who want a second vote on Brexit is an answer to this question: ‘If the second vote again is in favour of leaving the EU, will you abide by it? If not, then why not, and if so then why did you not do so the first time around?’

While writing, on the same day as the Supreme Court’s verdict you attributed to Rob Gregson a claim that in 2005 the Global Warming Policy Foundation paid Patrick Moore to make a presentation entitled ‘Should We Celebrate Carbon Dioxide?’ Was this a misprint? This claim is not true. The presentation was made in 2015 and contains quotes and information dated from later than 2005. It is readily available online and is clearly much more recent and therefore relevant than readers may have inferred from Rob’s letter.
