A little more thought needs to go into planning road closures

NO SOONER than we get told that La Route du Braye is opening on 25 October after the JT works, than I see on the Iris page that the next section is closing from Sohier Road to Braye Road Industrial Estate for three days (28 to 30 October) for Guernsey Water.

Why could this work have not been done under temporary traffic lights, etc. while the other work was being carried out? The volume of traffic would not have been that much going to the Braye Road Industrial Estate.

Also at the same time that this work is going ahead, Vale Avenue is to be one way and a diversion put in place from 28 October to 1 November and La Mazotte closed.

So any driver wishing to avoid all this will travel through the Ville Baudu rat-run and down to the Crossways traffic lights, etc. or around Vale Castle to the Bridge.

Then of course you will still get builders or scaffolding firms who decide it is a good idea to park on the diversion route to load and unload, like the one who did this near the top of Lowlands a week or so ago, causing huge tailbacks along Braye Road back to Vale Garage.

Someone in traffic really needs to put a little more thought into their road closures.
