Researching history of restored Saab 9000
I AM researching the history of a car I have restored which was originally sold in Guernsey in or around September 1987, with the registration 59281. The car would have been unusual at the time as it was specifically made for the UK market. It lived on Guernsey for 10 years clocking up just more than 28,000 miles before being sold and shipped to Southampton. (current mileage 183,300).
The car is a Saab 9000 SE - 2 litre Turbo Automatic. The colour is still the original Malachite Green and it has the dark blue leather seats and genuine walnut dashboard and door cappings. It would have been a much admired vehicle at the time – and still is among Saabists. Your local registration office does not have records going that far back and as Saab ceased trading in 2011 it is proving difficult to locate the local firm whether on Guernsey or Jersey that would have sold it.
