Future for pensioner with limited savings looks very grim
JUST A polite letter through your column to say thank you to the States of Guernsey for the latest pension rise to take us into 2022.
This last week as a pensioner like many others we have encountered a rise in petrol, Guernsey milk, Guernsey butter, Senners’ bread, water rates and now we see Deputy Helyar giving the bad news for much needed revenue of that dreaded GST or income tax rise.
At the same time plans are afoot to purchase a new ferry costing millions.
We also see that our beloved Guernsey Press is also going to cost more and so the rises keep coming.
The future for the pensioner with limited savings looks very grim.
The only hope is that if GST is accepted that somehow it has to be in favour of not hurting the struggling pensioner as more other rises appear.
