Traffic committee should sort out mess on roads

IT IS about time the members of the traffic committee earned their money and sorted out the mess on Guernsey roads. We see roads closed in areas right on top of each other causing massive hold-ups and we are getting more and more over-populated, with vehicles coming on the roads daily. Surely it is not hard to put temporary filters at junctions to help ease the build-up of traffic in areas such as the bottom of Mont Arrive and force the drivers who care only for themselves and are not interested in letting anyone out by keeping looking forward so as not to look at anyone waiting to get out of a road and getting one car space in front of them. Funny how it was all Guernsey together when we had a lockdown but when set free to do as they want people soon got into the selfish mode again. As for the traffic committee not being happy with the build-up and danger that may be involved around the area if a large school is built at the Ozouets (old St Peter Port School), it shows just how much politicians pick and choose where and what they want to do without taking any notice of the public. The protests against any such build-up of traffic and the danger involved in letting three housing estates be built around Amherst School was totally ignored and left to go ahead in Guelle Road with buildings on the old Dunchoille hotel site, and also across the road from that site also overlooking the school, then another on the other side of the school in Maurepas Road, again overlooking the school. All this is leading to a massive amount of extra traffic in an already overloaded area. All this kind of thing does not sit well with the local people. It is time all the committees and individuals in our government got together and sorted all this out instead of bickering and trying to score points against each other.
