Liberation needs to be celebrated in St Peter Port
HOW SAD that Liberation isn’t so important as to celebrate as done in the past. Two years of lockdown is understandable, but what reason for 2022?
Well done Megs Bailey and J Rouget’s recent letters.
I was five months old with my brother, 19 months, and mother and grandmother, all evacuated. Little time to pack and find money as all banks were closed.
My father had enlisted in the army, later serving in Burma with the Chindits.
We returned on one of the first boats, the tears of happiness and pride as we came into the harbour I will never forget.
Liberation Day is so special and needs to be celebrated where we were liberated, St Peter Port.
Well done Dame Mary Perkins and staff for the tea dance. Shame on Education, Sport & Culture.
