Schoolchildren used to find their level in classes

SADLY we are at the beginning of reaping the benefits of educated ignorance. A few years ago I remember writing as a mere layman how forcing education into people would take its toll on people wanting to do jobs like waiting on tables, lorry driving, road sweeping and all the essential – and important – work that is needed to be done for the island/world and life as we know/knew it to continue in a balanced way. We are now seeing the start of employers struggling to get people to do lower paid – least respected – but essential jobs. I have also warned that forcing more than necessary education on young people and making them into doing things that, let's face it, everyone is not capable of, would also take its toll on mental health. So we are seeing more people suffering with mental health issues because no one in authority listens.

Dictatorship is leading the way in government and it is about time someone started listening to the people and not riding over them with the attitude, you will do as we say, like it or not.

I grew up in a world of education that separated the clever from the slower learners. The pupils – who were known as schoolchildren – were separated and in classes where they could and would learn at the pace they were happy and comfortable with.

People from my generation grew up to be content in the employment they were able to do at their level of education. Some clever with their brains, some clever with their hands.

We produced the workforce that was needed to keep an equal balance and the island ticked along nicely.

OK – I know as well as the next person that like the last and the present people in government, no one will listen to the people, and it is more than probable the next government will do the same because the majority of the House will still contain personnel who are doing the damage. The voting system will see to that – by people not even in the slightest bit interested in what is going on adding names to a list of 38 because they can, whereas a vote for either one person – one vote, or voting for three candidates or a even a maximum of five out of the 38 would see many gone. Anyway you people in government have the chance to prove me and many others who have no faith in you wrong by sorting it out or at least look like you are trying to sort it out before we get anarchy.

For anyone who does not know what anarchy means, it is a state of disorder due to absence or non-recognition of authority or other controlling systems.
