Cruise ships should anchor so views are maintained

I WRITE to suggest that when anchoring off our picturesque harbour, cruise ships are requested not to anchor directly across the front of the harbour mouth, which completely blocks the view of our other bailiwick islands of Herm, Jethou, Sark and Brecqhou, in order that other visitors

to Guernsey are not deprived of seeing them from the main seafront of St Peter Port.

While I feel that the cruise ships themselves are a fabulous sight anchored off our shores, I am of the opinion that sometimes they can block out one of the many reasons visitors come, that being to see our other beautiful Bailiwick islands, encouraging them to visit these islands or return to Guernsey for another visit when they have more time to do so.

Some cruise ships anchor more to the north or south of our harbour mouth, allowing this magnificent view not to be obstructed. Hopefully the pilots or harbour master will consider this for future cruise ships.
