Don’t assume large property owners have cash to pay the high increase in TRP
HAVING read the recent States debate on TRP increases I was incensed with the following sentence, ‘There were many deputies who were of the view that those who lived in larger properties should feel privileged to do so’. Let me tell those deputies that I had a mortgage in my early 20s at a rate of 15% and to enable me to pay this had a full time job and two part-time evening jobs to help cover the mortgage payments. Why is it that I should feel privileged when I have worked so hard sacrificing many luxuries to get what I have today. I may now be property rich but as a pensioner am certainty not cash rich so please do not assume that all large property owners have the cash to pay the high increase in TRP every year.
