Closing bring banks yet another poor decision and will have implications

THE so called £100,000 saving by closing the remaining bring banks will not compensate for a further increase in fly-tipping, garden bonfires and more fuel burning car trips together with queuing at the Longue Hougue recycling site in the north of the island.

Island-wide windswept litter will undoubtedly increase after these April closures given the number of times recycling nights take place in very windy conditions.

It will also affect the quality of life of people living in small accommodation who may have limited storage space for their recycling.

It’s yet another poor decision made by civil servants – in Blackadder style sporting a pencil up each nostril and wearing a pair of underpants on the head – and therefore consideration should be given to reversing it immediately.
