Shutting bring banks raises several questions

THE announcement that the remaining bring banks are to be closed raises a number of questions.

Published

l How inefficient is the waste authority that it costs £100,000 a year to empty a few bring banks?

l How does increasing the distance islanders must drive align with governments climate change strategy?

l How will the already over capacity transport network in the North of the island cope with the extra traffic?

l How will the poorly planned and badly maintained access on to Longue Hougue cope?

l How will a recycling facility that already struggles to cope deal with the extra volumes?

l If the parish contractors have to pick up additional recycling how much will they will increase their charge to the parish?

Perhaps these issues should be considered before removing this public amenity.
