The Games brought together thousands of athletes from across the globe to compete in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Your hard work and dedication in organising this event did not go unnoticed, every one of us present will return home with Guernsey in our hearts. From the big publicity blitz and outstanding reporting from Guernsey Press, BBC, ITV, etc. to the useful information provided to residents and businesses, it was clear that you put a huge effort into making this event a success. The Games in Guernsey was the result of 18 previous events and will be another stepping stone in our common search for excellence.

The tag line of Guernsey 2023, ‘Inspiring Islanders’ was truly fitting and it was heartening to see local community groups as well as visitors from all over embracing this message.

The opening ceremony was one of many highlights of the week, with thousands of people turning out to welcome the athletes to Guernsey. The closing ceremony was a celebration of friendship and togetherness.

The atmosphere throughout the week was indeed electric and it was clear that everyone involved was having a fantastic time, not only being spectators, but also participants – it takes cooperation to create magic.

Once again, thank you for hosting such a wonderful event and thank you to the thousands of volunteers who made it possible. The NatWest International Island Games truly brought islands together through sport, and it was an honour to be a part of it. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this incredible event and look forward to see you again in Orkney 2025.
