Dispose of all costly, unnecessary requetes
I am amazed at the recent reports in the Press about the next topics for debate in the States.
Here is Simon Vermeulen wanting to debate the extension of the runway when we have been told by consultants this would not bring any future profit to Guernsey’s economy.
Having worked in the aviation industry, I know we do not have the number of travelling population to warrant high-volume carriers like easyJet or Ryanair, so if our ATR aircraft travel in/out with seats empty the high volume [airlines] will not even think about us.
Then there is Deputy Helyar wanting to link Guernsey Electricity to Jersey Electricity.
The Jersey politicians sit on their hands and enjoy drawing their salaries for doing nothing.
If we are researching renewable energy of wind or sub-sea and we make strides to achieve this then why should Jersey benefit at our expense?
The first priority should be to support Guernsey Electricity with a new cable link to France, so once we are producing power from renewables then we could export to the European grid.
I hope this may help all deputies understand the bigger picture and trash all costly, unnecessary requetes.
