Reader letter: Amazing hospitality ensures our return
We were passengers on Ambassador’s Ambition, which docked in Guernsey last Wednesday. With the inclement weather, we decided to take the bus around the island and decided to get off at Oatlands Craft Centre. We had a look around, had a coffee in the restaurant then went outside to wait for the bus. The rain was pouring and there was no shelter, so we were getting very wet.
A lady approached us, who had seen us in the cafe, and asked if we were on our way back to the ship. We were amazed and delighted when she and her husband offered to drive us back to the port.
The couple, Gwen and Tony, took us back to Town even though we believe it was in the opposite direction to their home near the airport. We chatted the whole way back and they dropped us off near the shops.
If you know Gwen and Tony, or if they are reading this themselves, thank you so much. Your hospitality was amazing, and you were such great ambassadors for Guernsey. We will definitely return to the island.
