Aspirations of interim CEO are already not being acted on

I SEE in the Press the promises made by Condor’s interim CEO are already being broken, or not acted on. How many Guernsey travellers when he announced sweeping changes to the timetable and made promises of more frequent sailings, thought, about time. At least we can see things changing?

Then we learn that a new contract is soon to be decided.

For many a year the traveller to France has had the short straw when compared to our neighbours across the sea.

A weekend in the picturesque St Malo, or a weekend on a works social are all a distant memory.

Unless you're a Jerseyman.

Two sailings on a Friday with a late return on a Sunday is ideal. Unless you’re wanting to return to Guernsey when most returns are a Monday morning.

And as for Friday sailings, well almost non-existent.

Sailings that stop off in Jersey for between three to eight hours are no good at all.

But we’ve been saying this for years.

Nothing changes. Condor will once again get the contract.

Promises don’t come to fruition.

It’s like hearing from a deputy before an election. Promise this, promise that, but lacking delivery.

They say, ‘better the devil you know’, but we know this one.
