Install Belisha beacons to make crossings more visible

I HAVE been interested for many years in the problem of seeing pedestrians waiting to cross the road or actually on the crossing when the weather is poor or it is at night-time.

There are many occasions when the current lighting is not good enough, particularly when the lights are tall. There is a simple way of making the crossings more visible at all times, and that is to install Belisha beacons.

The orange balls on the posts are clear to see and are used in many jurisdictions. It has always been amazing to me that the Traffic & Highways Department has been so against them.

It makes no sense when it is being considered to move lights to the crossings not to make use of such clearly visible beacons.
