Noise pollution eroding island life and charm

THE charm, integrity and enjoyment of your wonderful island is being eroded, slowly but surely.

Published

It is being destroyed by effects of noise pollution, as referenced in the Guernsey Press of 5 July) and speeding cars/bikes.

As a frequent visitor to Guernsey over the years I have noticed a big increase in the level of noisy and speeding cars and bikes. I stay with friends in the Vale and Sunday afternoons especially are being spoilt and ruined by the actions of selfish, inconsiderate and stupid drivers and bike riders with pop/bang and needless revving of engines, with non-standard exhaust systems.

These actions are very alarming and frightening for animals close to the road, and annoying for residents and tourists who are here to relax and unwind.

It really does make you wonder why.

This has to be addressed before it’s too late, if not already. So come on States, wake up – pull your fingers out (of your ears) get this idiotic behaviour sorted before it becomes a serious problem, and affects the tourist trade and locals alike.

Equipment to combat/control this is readily available and used by police forces in the UK.

Let’s get this done before you lose out on visitors totally. I will now be thinking twice before I come back.
