Convenient international hub on our doorstep is underused

MY HUSBAND and I recently spent a glorious week in Christmassy Paris, courtesy of Aurigny’s direct flight to Charles de Gaulle terminal 3. It was a great experience but the numbers on the flight were disappointing in both directions.

We feel that Aurigny is not marketing this link effectively. Sitting in the small, modern terminal 3 building – size and scale of Southampton – we noticed international flights to and from JFK New York – with Norwegian – and many other destinations throughout Europe with many airlines. That’s just in terminal 3 on a Friday afternoon. You can go almost anywhere from CDG so I urge Aurigny to market this side of the operation. Guernsey people may be set in our ways about going via London’s airports but as they have become increasingly ghastly this offers a pleasant and cost-saving alternative.

How much simpler to change flights in a small modern terminal than suffer Gatwick, the haul to Heathrow, or the horrors of Manchester, all of which often entail an overnight hotel.

Aside from the regular French commuters, I’m sure lots of people would explore the possibility of a civilised international hub on our doorstep.

We must use it or lose it.
