Build a new dairy on a farm which could produce all the goods
ONE OF Guernsey’s greatest assets is our Guernsey cow which is famous all over the world for its milk, which is rich in flavour and high in protein.
Yet they and our wonderful farmers are mostly ignored.
Many years ago former deputy Kevin Stewart had a brilliant innovative idea that could really boost our economy. Build a new dairy on a farm which could produce all the dairy products, including cheese, yoghurts and ice cream. Open a cafe selling all these delicious products and use the farm as an educational tour for schools to learn how our milk is produced.
It goes without saying this would also be a further attraction for tourists.
So farmers, and private investors, it's time to get going.
Brittany Ferries was started by a group of French farmers to get access to markets further afield and they have never looked back.
