Protesters take to streets of Buenos Aires during G20 gathering

Activists from several nations united for the protest.

Thousands of demonstrators have flooded an avenue in Buenos Aires to protest against the Group of 20 summit taking place in the Argentine capital.

The campaigners were waving flags and holding up banners with slogans like Go Away G-20 and Go Away Trump.

Activists from France, Germany, Italy and several Latin American nations were taking part alongside Argentinian in a demonstration organised by left-leaning groups and labour unions.

About 22,000 police officers and other security forces were guarding the leaders during the two-day summit that began on Friday.

Argentina is the first South American country to host the G20.

Argentinian authorities have said they will not tolerate violence or allow the gathering to be disrupted.
