I READ with interest the opinion by Deputy Matt Fallaize on Monday 6 July 2020, featured in your newspaper.
A letter to Gavin St Pier.
ON LIBERATION DAY, to read such an article! [German occupiers’ rules were strict but fair, 8 May] Certainly, the one who wrote that article did not live during the Occupation – or is German. Strict but ‘fair’? Ask an Alderney prisoner if they were treated ‘fairly’. Complacency helps to justify the Occupation, bad treatments... even if some Germans were, as individuals, human, when you are subject to occupation, you must show, like in the French book from Vercors, The Silence Of The Sea (Le Silence De La Mer), not any approval of sympathy. On a per capita basis that means £2,774 per annum per head of the population. Not per taxpayer, but per person, so includes babies and grannies. To put that in context, government General Revenue Income was £452m. in 2018 (up from £413m. in 2016, a nine per cent increase over two years).

ON 1 OCTOBER you published a letter from Daniel Roberts under the headline Scaremongers should not stop us getting the benefits of 5G. Then on 7 October you published what I thought was a well-argued critique of Daniel’s views by Andrew Lee. Then on 11 October you published a second letter from Daniel under the headline Anti-5G studies fail to prove 5G is a risk.
