FIRSTLY, may I say that my attitude to homosexuals is exactly similar to my attitude to heterosexuals. Some are good friends, others I am not so keen on. I listened to several speakers in the same-sex marriage debate, including Deputy De Lisle's amendment to propose civil partnerships as an alternative. The poor quality of what I heard from the floor has prompted me to write this letter.
THE letter from your anonymous correspondent of Monday 16 November ('Is there anything left for a rainy day?') served two very useful purposes.
CHILDREN will be making good use of the natural environment as a new pre-school has been set up at the £1.6m. Cobo Community Centre.
HAVING recently managed to earn enough points for a return flight from Bristol to Guernsey for my daughter to visit at Christmas, I logged in to my Frequent Traveller site and selected flights on 23 and 26 December – both available at £125 and £65 respectively. Gleefully clicking on my 'redeem points' section the outbound (dearer) flight, however, suddenly became unavailable.
RELUCTANTLY, I feel the need to enter the debate regarding the dangerous traffic arrangements at Salerie Corner as, in my opinion, the pedestrian case has not been heard. I began to use the car park at the Salerie about three years ago. It did not take long to realise that the system was seriously flawed.
I WAS intrigued to note that among the guest speakers for this September's Guernsey Literary Festival will be Jack Straw, the recently-retired British politician. The reason for my being intrigued is that in persuading Mr Straw to visit Guernsey, the festival organisers have achieved a real coup which proved beyond the ability of the island's authorities during the seven years that Mr Straw (first as Home Secretary, then as Lord Chancellor) was the Privy Counsellor responsible to the Crown for the affairs of the three Crown Dependencies.
